My friend in Ghana

This beautiful little boy is 9 year old Desmond! He lives

with his friends in the orphanage, he has cerebral palsy and was sadly rescued by the charity after being informed by locals in the village he was being ill treated by his family.

He now lives at orphanage where getting around is difficult for him luckily he has great friends who help him! At the orphanage they don’t have toilets that work so they are forced to go out into the surrounding bush to go to the bathroom. Because of the terrain his friends carry him and help him to go to the toilet. Sadly though as he gets older and bigger it’s more difficult not to mention not the most dignified situation for him, I’m currently trying to raise funds for them to be able to finish the toilets that they have started to build. While our visiting I had the opportunity to take the children to the beach to celebrate Easter, this gave him a chance to go in the water and feel weightless and give his muscles a well needed break. Though nervous at first he loved it by the end and didn’t want to go home.

The hope is that with funds he will be able to travel to the city where he can see a specialist that can help him become more mobile and to live more freely!

Already with funding a wheelchair has been brought for him to help transport however with the terrain it does make it difficult for him to use.
