Before coming to university to study nursing I spent 2 years backpacking on and off. In that time I was soooooo lucky to see so many different places and get to experience it all with my best friend.
Picking me fav 3 places I've visited is really hard and constantly changes depending on my mood!
3. Thailand
I loved it here so so much. In total I spent 4 months i think exploring all over the country! The things I loved the most were the people, the food and how you could go from being on a party island to being in the middle of an amazing rain forest in less than a few hours.
If you're going there I cannot recommend enough visiting Railay. Especially if you love rock climbing! (Think I'm gonna do a blog on my fav places in Thailand???) It had such a chill vibe and felt so calm. To get there is a bit of a faff. You need to get a main ferry boat, then disembark while still in the middle of the water into a small fishing boat. Then depending on which side of the island you're on to get to the best beach you have to do a short climb through the jungle. Its really pretty but make sure you have proper shoes after you've been swimming or its a really crap walk back.
2. China
The first time I ever went backpacking I spent a month in China travelling all over. I did it with a tour company called The Dragon Trip and I couldn't recommend it more. By going with a tour it meant we got to see places we wouldn't have known about. It also meant seeing more rural places was achievable as we were with someone who spoke the language.
The culture is as far different as you can get while still being in a fairly modern environment. My fav place was a small town we visited called Yangshuo. The scenery was amazing and there is so much to do there. Its only a short distance from the boarder so trips there from Hong Kong are doable.
1. NEW ZEALAND
By far the place I love the most and plan to move to.
Everything about it I loved, the lifestyle, the food, the weather, the people just everything!
I spent 3 months doing the North and South island with the kiwi experience. They were good for meeting other people but I would 100% do it myself if I was to re do it. Rent a camper van and go at my own pace.
Once I've got enough experience in nursing my plan is to move to Wellington and nurse there!
